Chesapeake claims a drinks first with Figured packs for G&M
Chesapeake Hamilton has claimed a world first for the drinks sector with the development of a new pack to support four of the collections of malt whiskies from Gordon & MacPhail.
According to the carton manufacturer, it’s the first time such a pack has been achieved in a composite shaped tube. The packs incorporate foil blocking and have a printed liner to support the “products high quality image”.
In addition, the packs are sealed with an embossed tin-plate lid bearing the Gordon & MacPhail logo.
“This Figured solution really is a packaging world first for the drinks sector,” said Chesapeake product champion Katy Buchan. “We have proved after extensive trials that we can produce a composite shaped tube with an aperture, which was previously not possible.
“The pack’s shape helps to maintain its strength despite the apertures and the pack now offers possibilities for many other products and markets.”
The Figured styles are made with three or four ply paper core and a secure seamed base, which according to Chesapeake offers an “ideal high quality replacement for tin plate containers”.
