O-I produces 160 bottles for Bottlegreen sculpture

A Gloucestershire artist has created a sculpture using 160 green Bottlegreen bottles produced by glass manufacturing giant O-I.

Oliver Ashworth took inspiration from an elderflower blossom for the 2.2m-tall stainless steel and glass sculpture that appeared at the Cartier International Polo this summer.

The sculpture, called ‘Glass and Light’, uses 160 of the Stroud-based companies 500ml bottles that are cut to various lengths and screwed into a cap set into an illuminated sphere.

Ashworth worked with O-I to explore the various ways the bottles could be used in a sculpture that complemented the Bottlegreen brand. The project took two months to complete.

Bottlegreen managing director Simon Speers said: “We are pleased that O-I worked with Oliver to create this exciting piece for us.

“Oliver has managed to create a sculpture that reflects the quality products whilst highlighting the craftsmanship that goes into the development of drinks.”
