Apple patents dual-purpose packaging
2012-11-12

Packaging Digest

Apple recently announced that it was looking to phase out manufacturing of docking devices for its iPod, iPhone and other electronic gadgets, leaving production of docks to third-party manufacturers like Belkin, Griffin and others.

However, according to a blogger at Apple fan site Patently Apple, the company is working on packaging with a dual purpose: cradling an iPod or iPhone on the retail shelf, then morphing into a working device dock after purchase.
