As a kind of Jiading's special handicraft, Malu bamboo ware has a history of over 300 years since its birth in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing dynasty. At that time a Xu family moved from Taihu area to Zongfang and earned their livings by weaving bamboo wares, and then a village named Luohang developed. As the industry of bamboo weaving is closely connected with the human life, it developed quickly. The area of bamboo weaving for a time extended to the South Gate hanging bridge to the north, and the Shigang in the south, and later it even involved in Zhangjiacun Village in the south of Malu.
Malu bamboos are natural plants in this area, so every household owns its own bamboo garden and the source is inexhaustible and the cost is very cheap. Most of the goods are dunnages in daily life and they are very durable.
