Package Care, now PCL SolutionsPackage Care Ltd was founded in 1978, to source packaging machinery & material for the MJF Group, Sri Lanka’s No. 1 exporters of branded tea made under the family brand of Dilmah™. Merrill J Fernando, the founder of the MJF Group, created Dilmah. He named Dilmah after his two sons, Dilhan and Malik. He realized that in order for Dilmah Tea to succeed, packaging would play a vital role in giving him the edge to compete globally. As a result Package Care Limited (as PCL Solutions (Pvt) Ltd was earlier called) was incorporated in 1978, to source packaging machinery and materials for the MJF Group and its fledgling Dilmah tea brand. Dilmah is now the most successful tea brand in the tea growing world and is considered a case study in the export marketing of a Third World commodity. As other tea packers followed the MJF Group’s pioneering steps, Package Care Limited became the dominant supplier of machinery, materials and technical know-how as well as to other industries such as Food, Apparel, Tobacco, Pharmaceuticals and Health Care. In 2008, during its 30th Anniversary, Package Care diversified its operation to three new divisions catering to Health Care, Automotive and Green Technologies. To reflect the move to new lines of business, Package Care was renamed PCL Solutions (Pvt) Ltd in 2010. |
