Can Prices in Europe Are Stimulated by Increasing Costs
2008-12-01
Impress, the metal packaging major, is to add its can prices in Europe by 10-15%. The rate needs to depend on product format after the unexpected increases in input costs.

According to Francis Labbé, chief executive from Impress, the “unpleasant and unusual practice” is taken under the pressure of energy and transport rising costs. The rising curve has been so steep that the industry needs to face further increases in lacquers, inks and coatings.

On the other hand, the main tinplate suppliers have also declared the price rises over the forthcoming months, which adds gloomy atmosphere to the industry.

Labbé said the company would exert themselves not to increase the prices so that supply flow could be continuous for consumers at the lowest possible cost.
