Plastic Bag Fee Maneuvers Committee Vote
2008-12-01
The Seattle committee was taking a vote on July 22rd for making a decision on whether Seattle is going to launch a fee for plastic bags at grocery, drug, and convenience stores, as well as a ban on polystyrene food and drink containers. The full City Council will release the decision on July 28th. If the regulation is passed, the fee and ban will be put into practice form 1st January 2009.

Retailers who are using plastic foam containers as packaging materials will have to replace them with other alternatives over the next one year.

On the other hand, it might be expected to be frustrating when shoppers are required to pay a few bucks for plastic containers after a big shopping trip. But the bottom line is that all of us have to take the responsibility to build a sustainable environment that will benefit citizens on the earth.
