Smurfit Kappa wins Nestlé European innovation award
2016-09-22

From: Packaging News

Smurfit Kappa has won the European Innovation Recognition award from Nestlé Fibre Packaging Categories for the second consecutive year.

The award is given for exceptional innovation proposals across Europe and is judged by internal stakeholders at Nestlé on the basis of a series of solutions demonstrating innovation, proactivity and practicality.

During 2015, Smurfit Kappa had seven innovative concepts recognised by Nestlé which covered a range of packaging solutions from shelf ready packaging, to point of sale displays and end of line packaging machinery.

The winning concept voted by the Nestlé stakeholders as the most successful concept was the Easy Erect Display, which is delivered flat and can be erected in store in less than three seconds without any training.

Mike Drummond, VP Pan European Sales at Smurfit Kappa, said the award demonstrated the company’s ‘Open the future’ strategy, working in partnership with customers to deliver innovation and operational excellence.

“This achievement is testament to our designers and retail experts who work collaboratively with the Nestlé team, who in turn continue to be open to new thinking, ideas and innovations.”

Stephane Coureau, procurement/supply chain project manager, Nestlé, added: “This award is well-deserved recognition for the relentless energy Smurfit Kappa has put into proposing innovative solutions to Nestlé.”
