September 8-10, 2009, Copthorne Tara Hotel, Kensington, London
The use of bioplastics and biodegradable packaging has increased over the past years as well as the number of applications of these materials. Brand owners and retailers have adopted bioplastics as a way of ensure the degradability of their packaging.
Biodegradable packaging has gone through many phases in its development. Even though it is looked at as a great option, it has faced challenges that range from sustainable feedstock procurement to waste and composting issues.
Innovations in packaging materials and design are driven by legislation in Europe, where the main goal is to reduce the amount of packaging that ends up in landfill. Bearing that in mind, this event will bring together government officials, regulators, brand owners, retailers, NGO's, trade associations, packaging converters, waste and recycling providers as well as bioplastics suppliers. You will hear from each group perspective on how to choose and develop the correct waste strategy that satisfies all sides of the spectrum and at the same time, complies with established regulations.
