Pro2Pac set to pack a punch in 2011

Pro2Pac, the processing and packaging solutions exhibition designed exclusively for the food and drink industry, is back for 2011. The biennial event, which features the Packaging Innovation Hub, will gather companies from all areas of the food and drink industry on 13–16 March 2011 to continue to drive innovation and growth for the future. And with the UK food and drink manufacturing industry currently turning over £3,750bn a year, there couldn’t be a better time for the market leading show’s return to London’s ExCeL.

Co-located with IFE11, the UK’s premier food and drink trade event, the 2011 instalment of Pro2Pac will aim to build on the resounding success of the 2009 event by showcasing a range of innovative packaging solutions, sustainable materials, new manufacturing equipment, and first-class processing & packaging services to help companies innovate, operate more effectively, increase profits, and keep up with consumer demand.

And that’s not all. The show will also offer a varied educational programme centred around the Packaging Innovation Seminars. These free-to-attend sessions will offer expert insight and stimulating debate on the latest packaging trends and challenges, building on the success of last year’s seminars which featured contributions from global brands and industry experts such as Tesco, Nestle, Tate & Lyle and WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme).

Taking place over the course of the show will be the hotly anticipated Design Challenge, held in the heart of the Packaging Innovation Hub. Packaging and machinery manufacturers as well as leading design houses will be invited to consider the opportunities for the creation of new products, market applications and consumer experiences, culminating in a presentation of their ideas at the event. Visitors to the Packaging Innovation Hub will be able to weigh up the competition and cast their votes to crown a daily winner.

In 2009, Pro2Pac attracted 13,455 visitors (ABC audited)  from the UK's top supermarkets, global brands, independent retailers and food & drink manufacturers and the 2011 exhibition floor is set to be as busy as ever. Commenting on the 2009 show, exhibitor Andrew Stark, Marketing Manager, Multivac Ltd said: “Pro2Pac was an excellent platform as it gave us the opportunity to speak to a wide international food audience. We were very pleased with the number of promising sales leads.” Hoping to replicate this success in 2011 will be T Freemantle, Rapid Action Packaging, PFM Packaging Machinery Ltd and Ravenwood Packaging, who have all already signed up to showcase their pioneering solutions to leading decision makers in the sector.

As the UK’s biggest manufacturing sector, food and drink represents 16% of turnover, employment and gross value, making Pro2Pac one of the most significant events of the year for the industry. Pro2Pac marketing manager Deborah Conneely commented: “This highly focussed event is the ideal platform for suppliers of processing & packaging materials, finished products, equipment and services to exhibit and reach the largest audience of food and drink manufacturers anywhere in the UK. For visitors it’s a unique, time-efficient opportunity to source, evaluate and discuss the latest developments within food and drink processing and packaging.

“The co-location with IFE makes the show an ideal place for business leaders, decision makers and industry experts to gather, offering unbeatable networking opportunities and an unrivalled chance for those attending to keep their finger on the pulse of all things food and drink. Plus the Packaging Innovation seminars offer visitors a unique outlet for discussions between like minded individuals looking to tackle current issues within today’s market,” concluded Deborah.
