Tiny Box and Closed Loop win recycling awards

The Tiny Box Company and Closed Loop Recycling have received National Recycling Awards for their achievements in promoting recycling and waste management.

Tiny Box Company, which is supported by funding won on the BBC's Dragons' Den show, was named the small business recycler of the year.

The firm sells recycled packaging to well-know brands such as Google, Harrods and the Tate galleries.

Meanwhile, Closed Loop Recycling took the gong in the recycled packaging of the year category for Britvic Drench.

Closed Loop's plant in Dagenham processes 35,000 tonnes of plastic for reuse in the food and drink industries.

Managing director Chris Dow said: "This award was particularly significant as it proves there is a global market for consumer brands using recycled content."

Other winners include United Biscuits, which won the waste minimisation award, and Geesink Norba.

Geesink's plug-in electric refuse collection vehicle has won the best new technology award.
