CiAL promotes Aluminium Recycling at Giffoni Film Festival

CiAl, the National Italian Consortium for the Recovery and Recycling Aluminium Packaging for the tenth consecutive year is official partner of the Giffoni Film Festival (Giffoni,Valle Piana, 18 to 31 July 2010) the largest children’s film festival in Europe, and possibly the World.
The participation of CiAl Festival branches out in various initiatives and meeting opportunities all dedicated to environmental protection and especially to recycling
aluminium.

The essence of the presence of the Consortium at the Giffoni, this year is summarized in the motto "Recycling for Love," to convey the message that a proper aluminium recycling is a true act of love towards nature and the world around us. Aluminium, in fact, is a 100% recyclable material and its recycling means a clear gesture of respect, because allow saving energy (up to 95%) and protecting natural resources.

For this edition of the Giffoni, in order to reinforce the environmental message, Cial has created a series of “piggy bank” shaped cans gadgets. The cans will be distributed to the public and jurors at the facilities of a special corner set up in the Citadel of Cinema.

In March, in collaboration with the Giffoni Film Festival, CiAl started the educational project "Objective Aluminium”, a scholarship promoted in ten different Italian provincial capitals. Students of about 800 colleges have been asked to submit a photograph related to the daily use of aluminium in their lives: from packaging (beverage cans, tins and trays, spray cans and foil) to the practical applications for construction, furniture, automotive and much more. Students expressed their creativity by focusing on two issues: the Aluminium around us and the Aluminium for the preservation of the environment.

The ten best pictures will be awarded with a scholarship and the students will be official members of the jury of the Festival in the section “Generator + 16” with a further task than other jurors. Armed with camera they will be environmental reporters for Cial and will also award the "CiAl Environment Prize ", now at its sixth edition, awarded to films in competition that best address environmental issues and sustainable development.

In order to stress the importance of recycling, CiAl will give as a gift the "Ricicletta ®", the city bike obtained from the recycling of 800 beverage cans, to the guests that best distinguished themselves throughout their career for their efforts in raising awareness  about sustainable development and environmental consciousness.
