The SMA-500 consists of a cylindrical sample bottle heater, a dry carrier gas flow system and a moisture transducer. The instrument heats a sample of test material contained in a 20mL septum bottle. Evolved volatiles are passed through a cold trap filter to a analysis cell, where the moisture content of the flowing gas is measured. A microprocessor integrates the varying moisture signal and converts the integrated signal to micrograms of water for display. If the sample weight has been entered, the moisture concentration in the sample is calculated as part-per-million or % moisture. Phoemis instrument's revolutionary prediction algorithm automatically terminates the test when sufficient information is collected to allow accurate determination of the moisture content of the sample. |
