PROCAP launches lightweight closure for oils, vinegars & sauces
2015-10-23

From:Packaging News

PROCAP is introducing 29/21 GREEN1P to answer the specific needs of fillers in the mass markets of edible oils, vinegars and sauces.

The new solution is described by the plastic caps and closures specialist as one of the most cost-interesting and lightest closures currently available for 29/21 PET neck finishes for this sector.

The company has invested heavily in the design of a lightweight solution that allows fillers to save both on cost and CO2 emissions. At 1.2g, 29/21 GREEN1P is much lighter than its predecessor. It is available in a wide range of colours and also offers the possibility for a brand logo or other information to be engraved on the top of the closure.

The solution’s body and seal skirt design make it very tolerantm and suitable for capping lines that are not optimally set. Even when capping is slightly skewed, no crooked cap or leakage failures result, according to PROCAP who add that its olive skirt also ensures that the container remains leak-free throughout the entire supply chain, especially during transportation and in storage when it may be most at risk.

PROCAP has patented a pioneering technology that moves the two tabs of the TE band up the top of the closure during capping. This makes them especially easy to grasp at first opening for both right- and left-handed consumers. The entire TE band must be removed on first opening offering clear evidence of tampering.

The closure can be opened using just one hand, leaving the other free to stir, for example. The cover cannot be misplaced as thanks to a handy hinge it remains connected to the closure. It can also be moved easily around the neck for maximum comfort in the event the container features a specific shape such as a handle.

The new closure is produced in accordance with ISO 14001 and the green process used by PROCAP, making it environmentally friendly. It is also fully BRC/Iop certified.
