Beaumont Technologies Inc. has received a patent for its Therma-flo system.

Beaumont Technologies Inc. of Erie, Pa., received a patent Aug. 4 for its Therma-flo, and the company is claiming it’s the first technology with a method and systems patent for characterizing the injection moldability of plastic materials.

Beaumont developed Thermo-flo over six years, as a way to measure and quantify how a polymer flows through a mold under a wide range of cavity and/or runner thicknesses/diameters. The company’s recently released software allows the mapping of injection molding characteristics of a polymer — so the date can be extended to tooling, polymer and software development.

In Erie, Beaumont Technologies has a Sodick two-stage injection molding machine and a Therma-flo Moldometer mold cartridge.
