7th Sustainability in Packaging Conference set for March 2013 in Orlando

Smithers Pira and Packaging Digest are pleased to announce that the key players in the packaging industry will return to Orlando, FL for Sustainability in Packaging 2013. The 7th annual event will take place March 13-15 at the Omni ChampionsGate in Orlando, Florida, USA. This year's program will expand on previous conversations on topics like extended producer responsibility, innovation and technology development and introduce discussions on bio-based materials, the impact of e-commerce and zero waste.

"2013 offers us a chance to build on the progress made at last year's successful event, which combined a packed exhibit hall with presentations on the most innovative new advances in sustainable packaging," said Barbara Fowler, conference director at Smithers Pira. "We are very pleased to welcome back the entire advisory board from last year to help us shape this year's program: John Kalkowski Editorial Director, Packaging Digest; Alan Blake, Principal, Alan Blake Consulting; Ricardo Ruiz de Gopegui, Director, Packaging R&D, PEPSICO; Erin Simon, Program Manager, WWF; Laura Rowell, Sonoco Packaging; and Kelly Scott, Packaging Working Group Coordinator, Sustainability Consortium."

"Now in its seventh year, the Sustainability in Packaging conference has a legacy of providing packaging professionals a reliable source for complete and relevant information they need to stay on top of an issue that is still developing," says John Kalkowski, editorial director of Packaging Digest, one of the conference sponsors. "Next year's conference will build on that legacy with an outstanding agenda that tackles the latest topics shaping the packaging industry's future."
