tesa introduces new films in their ecoLogo® range

 

 

tesa is adding two new product categories to its successfully launched ecoLogo® product range - the tesafilm® ECO & CLEAR and tesapack® ECO & STRONG. Elisabeth Skoda reports.



tesa has recognized the global trend towards sustainability and global responsibility, and taken a logical next step in its longstanding commitment to the environment by introducing the ecoLogo® sub-brand. Widely used products such as tesa® Stick and the tesa® EASY CUT hand dispenser began appearing on store shelves under the new sub-brand at the start of this year, providing support to environmentally conscious consumers. With tesafilm® ECO & CLEAR and tesapack® ECO & STRONG, the product range is now being expanded to a total of eight products.



All of the tesa ecoLogo® products meet the same stringent quality criteria that apply to the conventional tesa® product range, while also meeting the requirements of the DIN EN ISO 14021 standard for ecological products. Like the ecoLogo® items that have already been launched, the two new product categories, tesafilm® ECO & CLEAR and tesapack® ECO & STRONG, consist of recycled or biologically based raw materials, are solvent-free, and come packaged in recycled materials. This makes tesa the first company in the world to succeed in producing packing tape and adhesive tape for office use out of recycled materials.



"The new films will be available in Europe and Latin America from November 2011," tesa's market manager Thomas Kintrup told Packaging Europe.



tesa invested in several years of research in order to meet both the strict DIN standards and the high quality expectations of tesa customers. The result: products that appeal not only to the classic tesa clientele, but also to new, environmentally minded groups of buyers. In fact, the response from retailers has been outstandingly positive so far, and the introduction of bestsellers tesafilm® and tesapack® is expected to augment this successful development.



The sub-brand’s appealing image is definitely one of the factors contributing to its success: The fresh green design and prominent ecoLogo® symbol ensure that consumers can find the products quickly, and icons on the packaging show the environmental advantages at a glance. Plus, tesa offers targeted support for retailers, including countertop displays for tesa® Sticks and hand dispensers, banners for online advertising, and sales-boosting PR activities and promotional items for end consumers.
