Fibre Drums Limited shows its fibre in 40 years in business

In 1969, the throwaway society was at its height: it was a carefree world where no one cared about using up the world’s finite resources, or even considered it.

It was in this throwaway world that two men started a business that seemed to go against the grain of everything the times stood for - Manufacturing fibre drums.

In 1970, the company leased its first premises in Jackson Street, St. Helens, and so Fibre Drums Limited, with its wholly recyclable packaging solution, was born into a world of profligate consumer waste.

LITTLE GUYS, LITTLE PRICES
During the 1970s Fibre Drums saw an opportunity in offering an alternative supply source for the customers to tap into. While the introduction of the 3-day-week in 1975 pushed even more customers towards the smaller, nimbler suppliers.
The company grew, and grew, to such an extent, in fact, that it achieved £1 million turnover in 1985 and moved to much larger premises at its current location in Haydock just a year later.

MAKING THE PACKAGE COMPLETE
In response to customer demand, the company launched the FDL Packaging division to distribute the complete package of metal drums, plastic drums, pails, kegs, bottles, containers, cartons and IBCs in addition to manufacturing its signature fibre drums.
