Mercury produces biodegradable bags for Disney balloons

Mercury Packaging has produced printed biodegradable bags for an Italian range of Disney-branded balloons.

Pegaso manufactures creative party products and said it was the first time balloons had been packaged in biodegradable bags in Italy.

The bags feature a number of Disney characters from films such as Toy Story 3 and cars as well as traditional characters such as Mickey Mouse.

Patrizia di Stefano from Pegaso’s purchasing department said: "We are extremely proactive in sourcing environmentally-friendly packaging and this collaboration with Mercury has proved to be very successful."

The crystalline polypropylene bags are six-colour printed and are designed to be hung on point-of-sale displays.

Mercury business development manager Mark Binks said: "Working with Pegaso on its range of Disney products is a great boost for us and is contributing to the company building on its growing export success."

Nottinghamshire-based Mercury produces a range of wicketted bags and printed films.
