The two lines handle four product ranges between them: muesli, dried fruit, cashew nuts and a range of ready meals containing rice, vegetables and spices.

All products are filled into see-through bags and placed in an outer carton, but require very different weighing applications.

Rapunzel technical manager Hans Weiß said the "irregular-shaped, moist or very sticky nature" of organic products through up specific problems when it came to weighing them.

"We can now pack mueslis at a much higher speed and rely on an effective packing solution for our rice-based ready meal as well. In addition we have spare capacity at hand for packing dried fruit," he said.

Ishida's RS machines use the firm's combination calculation technology to improve accuracy and reduce giveaway by 5%.
