Pharmaceutical contract packer Wasdell Packaging has opened the doors on a new £1.5m facility designed to double its production capacity.

The Swindon-based firm's 5,574m2 purpose-built site will be officially opened next Monday (9 August).

MTC Insulation Solutions was responsible for the build and ventilation, providing air conditioning filtration to ISO Class eight standard.

The factory incorporates a 2,300sqm clean room and has been designed to allow further expansion. Additional production lines are set to be added next year.

"The factory marks an exciting chapter for Wasdell Packaging," said commercial director James Wasdell.

"We wanted to exceed customer expectations and, judging by the reaction we’ve had from new and existing customers, we have achieved that."

He added that the new facility would result in further growth and had "future proofed" the company by improving its level of service. When fully operational, the new site will employ over 200 people.

Wasdell broke ground on the new facility in March after managing director Martin Tedham bought a majority stake last August.
