Vegware is launching three new products for the food-to-go sector that it said made it the first company in the country whose entire product range was compostable.

The new products are a soup container with lid, an insulated coffee cup and heat-resistant cutlery.

Depending on the conditions the products decompose within 180 days and the material is then reused as compost, biogas or topsoil.

Vegware founder and managing director Joe Frankel said compostability was an exciting development and would help customers save money as well as being good for the environment.

"It has taken years of R&D, but now our full range can be commercially composted with food waste rather than go to landfill," said Frankel.

Vegware said that business was going well despite the economic climate and has plans to move to new premises and hire new staff to cope with demand.

In October, Vegware sold 20% of its business to venture capitalists Bradenham Partners.
