Lush opens UK’s first plastic-free cosmetics store
2019-01-23

From: Packaging News

Lush has opened the UK’s first plastic packaging-free cosmetics shop on Market Street, Manchester.

As reported last week in Packaging News, The first ‘Naked’ cosmetics shop features various innovative and plastic packaging-free alternatives for cosmetics – from the classics, such as solid shampoo bars and soaps, to new naked skincare innovations.

The cosmetics retailer has replaced packaging and labelling with a digital solution through the #LushLabs app.

‘Lush Lens’ enables the retailer to by-pass plastic packaging by using the phone’s camera and machine learning to recognise products through the user’s smartphone camera, and give the customer detailed ingredient information and ‘how to use’ demonstrations via the app.
