Plastic makeup jar is stackable, portable
2018-07-26

From: Packaging World

London makeup company Trinny devises a mix-and-match makeup collection enabled by 5-mL plastic pots with click-fit functionality that allows them to be stacked for portability.

Trinny London’s capsule range of cream-based makeup is stackable and portable in signature packaging developed by Quadpack. “The Stack” enables consumers to build their own personal makeup kit with a choice of face, eye, cheek, and lip color. The products come in transparent 5-mL jars that click together in an attractive stack that also makes them ideal for travel.

Holding cosmetic products formulated for fingertip application, The Stack is eye-catching and convenient and answers growing demand for personalized makeup solutions, says Quadpack. Consumers can use the brand’s Match2Me online tool to create their personal stack, based on skin, hair, and eye color.

According to Quadpack, the packaging is one of the main selling points of the makeup line, engaging consumers and allowing them to carry as many or few as they like in their handbag. Each 5-mL jar and cap is custom-designed, which allows them to snap into a stack. The jar is transparent, so the product inside is visible. The base has click-fit functionality to latch onto the cap of another jar when stacked. The Trinny logo is featured in a silver band, hot-stamped across the bottom edge.

The two-part cap comprises a metallized inner cap with a wide base and screw neck that provides an audible click closure. The sides feature a matte in-mold decoration, which adds a delicate relief pattern while leaving the bottom edge glossy.

The outer cap is transparent and sits raised on the inner part, like a viewing window of the silver interior. The top edge has a smaller diameter with a discreet rim that grips on to the base of another jar when stacked. The Trinny logo is debossed on the top.

When seen from the side, the pack features transparent, textured silver and glossy silver bands, an effect that is amplified when part of a stack.
